Bina adores spending her days in the bakery. A longtime dream of hers, she could hardly believe it when she got the opportunity to quit her nine-to-five in favor of surrounding herself with the scent of freshly baked bread and pastries day after day. Even though the owner Margaux has turned out to be far more critical than Bina had anticipated, she is still grateful for every day spent with her hands in a dough, caring for the loyal customers.

With Christmas just around the corner, Bina is busier than ever, especially considering the pressure from Margaux to increase revenue. With the added hours at work, Bina feels like she is falling short as a mother. She is constantly weighed down by a twinge of guilt about having to leave her teenage daughter Smilla and the younger Elise on their own (even though the bakery is right next door to their home and the girls are completely fine). If that wasn’t enough, beneath everything, Bina has begun to long for someone to share her life with (though she doesn’t quite dare admit that to herself).

Amid the stress, all of Bina’s carefully laid Christmas plans are derailed when one thing after another goes wrong (of course it does…). When the holidays finally roll around, a disastrous event threatens to ruin absolutely everything (because of course it can’t simply go smoothly for once…). Bina feels her spirit slipping away with each passing second, until a little Christmas miracle arrives from the most unexpected allies.

Perhaps there’s still hope after all, as long as we aren’t afraid to let other people in.

Christmas Twinkles in the Bakery is a warm and comforting feelgood novel, perfect for curling up in the couch with a cup of hot chocolate on a cold winter day. Here, Frida Skybäck has penned the perfect complement to her other feelgood novels, filled with love and wonder for the small things in life.
