Ann-Helén Laestadius in Extensive Interview with the UN
Ann-Helén Laestadius recently did a big interview with the United Nations Regional Information Centre on occasion of the International Day of the World’s Indigenous People.
In the interview, Ann-Helén discusses her Sami-background and how it relates to her writing:
“I often write about Sami identity, on the right to identify yourself and the strength you find in Sami society. I have a strong sense of what is right and wrong, and I am driven towards injustice and getting justice done. And often that doesn’t work out and writing literature is then a good outlet for me. This is where I can let my frustrations loose and put a finger on what is unacceptable.”
