Bread and Milk Highlighted in Dagens Nyheter

Swedish daily newspaper Dagens Nyheter has listed 24 must-reads for the summer, one of which is Karolina Ramqvist’s Bread and Milk. Here is what they had to say about it:

“Motherhood and food. It is around these two subjects that Karolina Ramqvist creates a novel so appetizing that I can’t help but devour it in one sitting. The mandarins, the toasted bread, the rice pudding. And the travels to the grandmother and grandfather, the nights when the mother does not come home. A girl that is filled up by fragrances and taste, of worry and questions. I think about my mother and grandmother, their caring view of the home, how they have filled fridges and cupboards, fed children and grandchildren. What is food without the home, and the other way around?”
