‘Brightly Shining’ Lauded by Czech ‘iLiteratura’
Czech literary online magazine iLiteratura has lauded Ingvild H. Rishøi’s bestselling novel Brightly Shining. Here’s an excerpt from their praise:
“The story, written in [H.C.] Andersen-style, about two sisters who try to take on adult responsibilities, earn some extra money for gifts and perhaps even get their own Christmas tree, combines the harsh reality with childlike faith and hope. […] Like [Andersen], Rishøi writes with a language that is poetic at times, crude at others, and her childlike characters also escape into an inner fantasy world. […] Despite everything, Rishøi’s world is more optimistic than Andersen’s.”
The Czech edition of Brightly Shining was published by Dobrovský on October 8th, 2025.
