Elin Cullhed wins the August Prize 2021
Euphoria by Elin Cullhed was awarded the August Prize for Fiction. The August Prize is Sweden’s most prestigious literary award and Euphoria was one of six shortlisted titles.
The jury’s motivation reads:
“Through her literary reimagining, Elin Cullhed allows the reader to come so close as to get under the skin of the creative, vibrant human being that was Sylvia Plath. Through life-affirming and furious prose, Cullhed depicts how a poetic genius wrestles with a house-wife existence where dreams and desperation feed one another. With Euphoria, a literary icon assumes a new place in our time – and in the texts’s pulsing heart the reader also catches sight of herself.”
Euphoria was published in Sweden on March 1st by Wahlström and Widstrand.
