Heaps of Praise for Film Adaptation of ‘Will You Care If I Die?’

The film adaptation of Nicolas Lunabba’s acclaimed novel Will You Care If I Die? has been praised by multiple major Swedish newspapers. Here’s a compilation:

“Engagingly intense, energetic and a vivid imagery of the streets of Malmö.”
– Dagens Nyheter (SE)

“Nicolas Lunabba’s acclaimed memoir is brought to the screen with a deft and accessible touch, punctuated by sharp cuts and a touch of humor. Not since the French film La Haine (1995) have I seen such a compelling portrayal of life in marginalized neighborhoods. […] The film is well worth seeing, particularly at times like this. […] It offers a sharp and compelling snapshot of the current climate.”
– Upsala Nya Tidning, 4/5 stars (SE)

Will You Care If I Die? is the most important film of the fall. […] Despite the hardship, Nic and Elijah’s story […] is a ray of light in the darkness. […] The lead actors are nothing short of phenomenal.”
– Arbetet (SE)

At the helm of the production is director Rojda Sekersöz (Young Royals), who is joined by screenwriter Wictor Ericsson (Halfway to Heaven, Strawberry Days). The film is produced by Nordic Drama Queens and distributed by Nordisk Film. Will You Care If I Die? premiered in Swedish theaters on August 21st, 2026.
