High Marks for Film Adaptation of Stolen
The film adaptation of Stolen, based on Ann-Helén Laestadius’s critically acclaimed novel, has received a four-star review from Swedish newspaper Göteborgs-Posten:
“Even reinterpreted as a film, it is a powerful and brutal story, born from rage. Director Elle Márjá Eira doesn’t allow us to turn a blind eye to the cruelty between the Sámi and non-Sámi. […] There is a painful beauty in Stolen. Not only from the northern lights, the snowy landscapes and the reindeers. But also, in the respect for nature, in the tradition and the love for the reindeer herder life.”
The film adaptation of Stolen was directed by Elle Márjá Eira with screenwriter Peter Birro and Ann-Helén Laestadius as Executive Producer. Stolen premiered on Netflix on April 12th, 2024.
