Kyrre Andreassen Awarded the Critics’ Prize

Kyrre Andreassen has been honored with the prestigious Critics’ Prize for his critically acclaimed novel Not People I Can Depend On. The novel was nominated in the category ‘Best Literary Fiction Book of the Year’ and the jury’s motivation reads as follows:

“There is no doubt that the best literary fiction book from last year is the unique portrayal of Linda Hansen. A four-hundred pages long account about a mother of two and municipal employee, and the betrayal from her husband of twenty years – as well as the aftermath of their split. How does Andreassen manage to get away with it? Infidelity and family troubles are motifs in novels almost as old as the genre in itself. The reason is because the story is written in such an original way. […] This is why Not People I Can Depend On is such a timeless story that raises questions on what it is like to live alone, and what it is like to live together. It is so elegantly written that it will continue to draw in readers.”

Not People I Can Depend On was published in Norway by Gyldendal on Augusth 8th, 2024.
