Stage Adaptation of ‘Brightly Shining’ Receives Rave Review
Ingvild H. Rishøi’s critically acclaimed and bestselling novel Brightly Shining has been adapted for the stage and is currently running at Trøndelag Theatre in Trondheim. The prestigious Norwegian newspaper Dagsavisen has praised the production, noting:
“Brightly Shining has a captivating lightness about it, like snowflakes swirling upwards, with a lovely musicality and a distinct rhythm from the actors that draws us into the story. Beneath this lightness, however, lies an underlying darkness. This theme is brought to life through inventive scenic design and magical realism, or, rather, magical absurdism, as its driving force. […] Ida Grimsgaard’s stage design and Christmas tree costumes are a spectacle in themselves, beautifully complemented by Steffen Telstad’s atmospheric lighting and integrated effects.”
Directed by Maria Drangeid, Brightly Shining runs from November 8th to December 30th.
