Kyrre Andreassen
KYRRE ANDREASSEN (1971) is an acclaimed Norwegian author based in Drammen. He made his literary debut in 1997 with the short story collection This Is Where You Have Your Friends. His second book, Barringer, published in 1999, earned him a nomination for the prestigious Brage Prize for Best Novel.
In 2006, Andreassen’s novel Svendsen’s Catering won the Linguistic Society’s Literature Prize, and the following year, he was honored with the Hunger Prize for his contribution to Norwegian literature. His 2016 novel, Furthermore, I Believe Carthage Must Be Destroyed, secured him a second Brage Prize nomination.
In 2024, Andreassen published the novel Not People I Can Depend On, which has received high praise from readers and critics alike. The book immediately entered the Norwegian bestseller list, where it has secured its spot ever since its publication in August. In addition to this, Not People I Can Depend On was nominated for the Norwegian Bookseller Award, as well as shortlisted for the prestigious Critics’ Award.
