The Eighteen Trilogy
In Anton Berg’s gripping thriller series, radio journalist Axel Sköld uncovers a secret organization with deep ties to crucial moments in Swedish history – ranging from the death of a king to the assassination of former Prime Minister Olof Palme. The organization, which dates back to the 18th century, is still active today and seems to be wielding a dangerous amount of power behind the scenes.
In the first book, Axel stumbles upon evidence linking the organization, The Eighteen, to three significant deaths. When Axel airs his findings on his radio show against the will of his employers, he loses his job. Despite the setback, Axel remains relentless in his quest for the truth. As the story proceeds, his stubbornness pulls him into a complex web of secrets, conspiracies and power struggles that threaten not just him but the entire nation.
During his search for the truth, Axel is helped by art professor Vilhelm Skrak, an eccentric yet loyal ally with a heart of gold. Vilhelm stands by Axel through thick and thin, even though he is putting himself at risk. Axel’s close friend and colleague Stina Forss also lends her support despite facing her own personal struggles, including a heated custody battle over her disabled son.
Meanwhile, Axel rekindles his relationship with his high school sweetheart Lova Magnusson. She is now a respected politician who, by the third book, has ascended to the role of Prime Minister of Sweden. The lingering attraction between Axel and Lova is undeniable, but as their feelings deepen, Axel begins to notice troubling signs suggesting that Lova may be entangled with The Eighteen.
Throughout the series, Axel confronts ever-growing dangers as he battles to expose The Eighteen’s secrets and protect Sweden from the sinister forces at play.
